Shouting from the Shed 98

Hi again,

This will be my final newsletter of the year, so I want to wish you a Merry Christmas, and encourage you to schedule some monthly nature or adventure into your life next year (eg: a tree climbfull moon outingovernight camp, or just a cup of coffee in the outdoors).

Thank you for all your support this year!

Here are some things I’d like to share with you today:

  • Two women, 20,000 human-powered miles, connecting stories across the Americas. An epic expedition.
  • Danny MacAskill is back on his bike, in one of my favourite cities.
  • I always enjoy end-of-year round up lists (like this). So here is my contribution. Good books I have read recently.
  • What it takes to Run a Sub-Four-Minute Mile for 20 years straight.
  • What time is it? This literature clock is marvellous and must have entailed so much work!
  • Think the little Christmas robin in your garden has been there for years? Doubtful – it’s probably been on adventures galore. This migration atlas of birds is amazing. Take your pick of birds – perhaps the uber hardcore godwit…
  • Moss Drapes from Trees in Ethereal Photographs of England’s Forests.
  • The long-established right to wild camp on Dartmoor is under threat.
  • Please donate any pre-loved kids books you may have at home to this really good project that helps get more books into more kids’ lives.
  • Anna McNuff’s new book about running the length of Britain, barefoot, is out now
  • You can still order the books I’ve written for children in time for Christmas stockings.
  • And because I’m cold in my shed today… Ouch!
