Here are some things I’d like to share with you today:
- Do your children enjoy audiobooks? I’ve got some copies of The Girl Who Rowed the Ocean to give away for free.
- If you have old adventure clothing or equipment that you no longer need, please send it to Kitsquad. They’ll pass it on to people who will really benefit from it.
- Robert Macfarlane crosses the iconic Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. Lovely radio.
- The Adventure Queens Grant helps women take on their first big human-powered, boundary-pushing, life-changing adventure through providing funding, kit and mentoring. Apply today!
- Conversations on the Hudson is a project to record the stories of craftspeople encountered during a cycle journey along the Hudson River. I love this.
- I’ve updated my list of Good Books I Have Read Recently if you’re looking for inspiration.
- The RGS’ annual expedition planning weekend, Explore, is going to be held in London on 4th and 5th November. It is a wonderful and useful event for geography students, early career researchers, expedition leaders, travellers, adventurers, conservationists, sailors, climbers, botanists, basically anyone with an idea or sense of purpose. Highly recommended.
- Lake Windermere is dying. Excessively high nutrient levels are destroying England’s largest lake. If you disagree with sewage being discharged into Windermere, please read on.
- Marc-André Leclerc climbed alone, far from the limelight. On remote alpine faces, the free-spirited 23-year-old Canadian made some of the boldest solo ascents in history.
- A nice man called Keith decided to give away his adventure bike to someone who could put it to good use. He’s now chosen a winner.
