Afghanistan by rory stewart is a must read travel book. Great piece.
I love The Way of the World (l’Usage du Monde’ en francais). It’s been my favorite book for a few years now. You can open it anywhere and read a page and it is beautiful… Every sentence of it is a jewel and it is a very moving book. I bought about 10 copies of it to give away to my friends over the last few years. “Le Poisson-Scorpion” is also very good.

The season is moving on, you want to hurry home… The season is moving on, and you are trapped far away… And the good things of the earth are slipping between your fingers like the fine sand of the dunes.” – Antoine St.Exupery, ‘Wind, Sand and Stars‘ […]
