Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to hear the the voice of your heroes of old, the voice of Shackleton, perhaps? Well I’mve just come across this remarkable recording of Ernest Shackleton talking about his Farthest South expedition of 1910. I find it amazing to actually hear his voice having read so much, and thought so much, about his accomplishments.

It’s interesting to me that nearly 100 years later, expeditions still face the same challenges in the Antartic – crevasses, running out of food, injury. I’ll hang on to this link to send to people who claim that technology & modern advances mean that we can’t have “real” expeditions any more.
Have fun at the Explore seminar this weekend!
