When I travel round the country giving talks (I’mm available for Weddings, Bar-Mitzvahs and Funerals…) I try to take the opportunity to squeeze in a microadventure.
Last week I was speaking in Scotland so seized the chance to build a wild hut with Kevin Langan who is steadily working through the construction of 100 Wild Huts. Also helping out, high on the beautiful cliffs above Perth, were photographer Richard Patterson and fellow adventurer Mark Beaumont. Rich made these fantastic 360 degree panoramas of our labours.
I absolutely loved building this hut.
Spending time pottering around the woods, clearing my head and working hard, chatting to interesting guys, and escaping for life for a while… I recommend this to anyone who can’t quite be bothered with any of my more strenuous microadventure suggestions!
Building a wild hut, cooking on a fire, and sleeping on a hilltop are good for the soul.

It’s pretty scary up there when the wind’s blowing isn’t it.
Amazing video! Loved it. I just wish i had 3 friends with an adventurous nature…..rather than ones who would rather sit in a pub!
Almost all the (modestly) adventurous things I’ve done in my life were on my own or with people I met on the way. Don’t wait for your friends to leave the pub. Leave them in there and go your own way, alone or with new friends.

Have just recently rediscovered you! Read you books many years ago and atteneded one of your lectures about 3 or 4 years ago.
Didnt realise that you had done so much since your around the world trip. Very inspiring tales and all varied from the previous. Really liking these micro-adventures, it just shows that with a little bit of imagination what can be achieved in our own island

I’m glad you like the recent stuff. It was certainly hard to move on to life-post-cycling-round-the-world but the microadventures (and the possibilities the idea can hold if I can reach a wider audience) are very exciting to me.
