    Hi again,

September’s here, back to school, and a perfect chance for me to try to persuade all you parents and teachers out there to buy my new kids’ book, Against the Odds, which is jammed full of growth mindset educational goodness as well as plenty of rip-roaring adventure!

Here are some things I’d like to share with you today:

    • DAMN! I hate it when people come up with BRILLIANT ideas that I should have come up with myself…
The Seven Summits of My Neighborhood.
    • British Sandwiches and Walking 300km of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast. A lovely article about walking across England, told by an American who lives in Japan.
    • Risking It All: Are the Mountains Worth Dying For?
    • Download the Safer Seas & Rivers Service app to check the coast is clear before taking the plunge. And, more importantly, to get angry about the state of our rivers and coastline and then to email your MP about it.
    • A great website for discovering new global books to read.
    • Travel the world from home (and time travel too): listen to radio from around the world and across the ages.
    • And finally, what do you do when people come up with BRILLIANT ideas that you should have come up with yourself? Answer: you steal them… ?
    Can I help you?

Let me know if you have a relevant project that my readers would appreciate. Here’s what you guys have been up to recently:

    • ❤️ Chris is organising OUTSIDE – a brilliant-sounding Adventure & Film Festival in West Wales next May.
    • ❤️ Cam is cycling a tandem from Alaska to Patagonia, picking up riders to hop on the back seat all through the journey.
    • ❤️ Martin has created an app that helps you find a phone signal when you’re off the beaten track. And the first 10 readers who email martin@capcloud.com will get a free year’s subscription.
    • ❤️ Sean has launched a new platform, Untold Roads, which connects adventure/outdoor enthusiasts of all levels with experienced guides.
Thank you for reading. As Austin Kleon says, “This newsletter is free, but not cheap.” To show your support, would you mind forwarding it to someone who’d like it,  sharing it on Twitter, reading one of my books, subscribing to a free podcast, getting a birthday greeting video from me, or maybe even donating to keep the newsletter going.

(If you’re seeing this newsletter for the first time, you can subscribe here.)

    Cheers,

    Alastair
