I read your “Nobody Should Blog” entry and couldn’t agree more. It seems that what is missing from many a “go on a big expedition, make myself famous & never work again” career plans is the love. I speak of the love of the heartache and triumph, the misery and comfort and self-doubt and confidence that is part of an adventure that pushes physical and psychological limits. At the end of the day you have to be honest with yourself about your motivations. Failure to do so will undoubtedly unravel the fabric of a difficult expedition and will surely shine through in any writing about it.
At the end of the day, the motivation for any expedition has to come from the love of the adventure!
