400 seconds of wisdom (ha) from me at the recent Scottish Night of Adventure. I’mll be adding one talk each Friday over the next month or two.
The next Night of Adventure is in Bristol on October 17th. Pencil it into your diaries now – we’ve got some great speakers…
Your experience on Illimani reminds me of my own in Parinacota. I also had to turn back because my brother could not go on. And we only had one guide and I decided not to to leave him and go alone.
Very beautiful place and great visibility. Amazingly, I could clearly see Illimani from up there. It was ridiculously, impossibly far (137 miles/ 220 kilometres) and yet there was no mistaking the distinctive triple peak (your photo must have been taken from a different angle) and it was in just the right place and I couldn’t see what else it could be.

You have become a master of churning up feelings of wanderlust in your readers hearts. Great talk. Fantastic choreography of photos and storytelling. Timing was dead on.
Thank you!
