I’m looking for an artist, designer or photographer to create the cover for my next book — working title The Great Reconnection (though that may well change). The book explores how we’ve quietly become disconnected from the natural world, and why that matters. It’s a personal, hopeful journey through woods and fields, high streets and schoolyards, tracing how our loss of daily contact with nature has reshaped our health, our happiness and our planet.
Through stories of felled trees, vanished birds and small acts of rediscovery, The Great Reconnection invites readers to look again at their local landscapes — to see how shifting baselines have dulled our sense of wonder and how reawakening that connection could help heal both people and place. It’s about hope more than despair; about noticing, caring and finding belonging again in the living world just beyond our doorsteps.
I’d love the book’s cover to capture that spirit — something rooted in the outdoors, in wildness, in reconnection.
I’m especially keen to hear from people who:
- Have never designed a published book cover before (I’d love to give someone their first opportunity).
- Have a genuine interest in the outdoors, adventure, nature or conservation.
- Work in photography, illustration or design — or a blend of all three.
You’ll, of course, be paid for your work, though the exact fee will be set by the publisher, not me personally.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please click here to fill in the form to express your interest and share examples of your work.
I can’t wait to see what ideas you come up with. Please do pass the link on to any friends who might be interested in the opportunity.
