    Hi again,

Here are some things I’d like to share with you today:

    • I’m challenging people to climb the 7 Summits of their neighbourhood this year. Does that sound like a fun challenge? Here’s how to do it.
    • Filling a computer with beans. Comedy.
    • I’m doing a talk in Kingston, west London on Feb 21. Still some tickets left. Come along if you can!
    • “What I used to do was…” is a great way to open the door to what you’re going to do tomorrow. Really good article for anyone daring themselves to make changes this year.
    • What can I do about the climate emergency? An interesting practical guide.
    • Ultrarunner Kilian Jornet considers his carbon footprint.
    • Public rights of way are blocked in 32,000 places in England and Wales.
    • The most insane ski run ever imagined.
    • A piece I wrote for the Daily Telegraph about exploring your local map for a year.
    • I spent a day wandering around my local map with the Financial Times. Here’s what they thought about me…!
    • Do you enjoy listening to audiobooks on Audible UK or Audible USA. If you’d like a free copy of ‘Local‘ (recorded here in my shed under some hot and sweaty duvets back in the summer), then please just add your details here to go in the draw.
    Can I help you?

Let me know if you have a relevant project that my readers would appreciate. Just hit reply and send me a message.

Here’s what you guys have been up to recently:

    • ❤️ Claire has written Into The Wild: Family Micro Adventures, with over 30 mini outdoor activities for families that feed our mind, body and soul, without draining our wallets.
    • ❤️ Ash walked 1850 kms from the Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal.

    • I have a favour to ask: if you enjoy getting my newsletter, would you mind sharing it on Twitter?
    • Suck Less. I’ve just completed this 30-day “Practice and Suck Less Challenge.” I enjoyed it so much I’m going to repeat it this month.
    • Questions: Fancy answering some deceptively difficult questions about life?
    • Wanderlust: Staring at a screen and desperately dreaming of far-off lands? Mapcrunch will drop you on a random street, somewhere on Earth… (Just click ‘Go’ at the top of the page.)
    • Film: The most elusive man in North America? Dag Aabye is a septuagenarian Ultra Marathon champion who lives completely off the grid.
    • Article: 68 Bits of Unsolicited Advice. (Being enthusiastic is worth 25 IQ points.)
    • Environment: If you don’t quite have the energy to read a dozen ‘REWILD THE WORLD’ books and a dozen ‘BEEF IS BEST’ books, then this considered article on how to save British farming (and the countryside) will serve you well.
    • People got very angry on Facebook when I posted about Bill Gates’ interesting new book on Climate Change.
    • “You know, wherever you get out on your bike, it’s not how far you go or how fast, it’s how much fun you have along the way.” Timmy Mallett (yes, Timmy Mallett!) is a gifted artist, a keen cycle tourer, and a great speaker.
    • Massimo has a consistently fascinating Twitter account.
    • Epic cycling on ice.
    • Can I help you? Let me know if you have a relevant project that my readers would appreciate. Here’s what you guys have been up to recently…
    • Outdoor Mindfulness activities to get children outside (and a discussion about what an outdoor education should involve).
    • Three mad women traversing their local lagoons by swim-hike-swim.
    • Women needed to write about their adventures for Intrepid Magazine.

Thank you for reading. As Austin Kleon says, “This newsletter is free, but not cheap.” To show your support, would you mind forwarding it to someone who’d like it,  sharing it on Twitter, reading one of my books, subscribing to a free podcast, getting a birthday greeting video from me, or maybe even donating to keep the newsletter going.
