    Shouting from the Shed 88

    Shouting from the Shed 88

    Hi again,

    • Boy, oh boy, May certainly is a beautiful month for getting out into nature. I hope you are getting the chance to explore wherever you live. My shed is almost submerged beneath a creamy, frothy sea of cow parsley, and I love it!
    • A quick question: do you struggle with the readability of this newsletter? If so, could you answer these four quick questions to help me improve it?
    • Thank you, thank you to all of the kind readers who have so far signed up to Patreon to contribute to the running costs of this newsletter, so that it can remain free for everyone to receive.
Here are a few things I’d like to share with you today… ?

    • ? Offer: There’s 20% off all books on my website until the end of May, delivered to any UK address. Just use the coupon code ’20percent’ when you checkout.
    • ?‍♀️Walk: “The explorers who walk every street in their city. You don’t really know an urban landscape until you’ve visited all of it on foot – from slums to beauty spots. Just ask the thousands of ‘every-single-streeters.’”
    • ? Film: A Journey Around Earth in Real Time – absolutely stunning. I love sticking this on a big screen whilst I work on something else. If you watch this and are not driven to want to explore, I’d be astonished. It, literally, changed my perspective on the world.
    • ? Nature: Magnificent murmurations.
    • ? Change: A Guide to Your Digital Carbon Footprint – and How to Lower It.
    • ? Map: Join the next Slow Ways National Swarm and help map the country’s walking routes.
    • ? Map 2: There are also only a few routes still needing to be surveyed as part of updating the Scottish Hill Tracks. Could you help?
    • ? Map 3: Put old trees on the map and you’ll be helping  protect them. Ancient trees are as much a part of our heritage as stately homes, cathedrals and works of art. But they don’t get the same protection. Add a tree to the Ancient Tree Inventory.
    • ?? Goals: When I am 70-years-old, I hope that I can mountain bike like this, sprint like this, and run marathons like this. (Thanks to Tomo for sharing a couple of these links.). And in a similar vein, Ted is 85-years-old, and about to set off on an 1150-mile journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End on a trike raising funds for an important cause.
❓Can I help you? Let me know if you have a relevant project that my readers would appreciate. Here’s what you guys have been up to recently… ?
    • ❤️ John is producing Outdoors Rocks, the place to go for great outdoor and adventure video content. A collection of outdoor films, from adventure to climbing, wingsuit flying, bouldering, biking, wild swimming and much, much more.
    • ❤️ As part of her MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development at the University of Highlands and Islands, Annabel is conducting research to understand what microadventure means to the people who participate in them, and if through these adventures you can create an attachment to place that results in more pro-environmental behaviours. She hopes to use this information to contribute to existing sustainable tourism research. If you have experienced a microadventure in the last 12 months, then she would love to hear your views.
If you want to know more or wish to participate, please get in touch by emailing bel_prow@btinternet.com
    • ❤️ Alycin has written a book about her solo travels overland from Canada to South America to canoe the Amazon.
