Good afternoon from a kayak in sunny Sweden!
(Actually, that is a lie. When this email goes out to the world I will be on that kayak, but I’mm actually writing this a week ago, in my shed. So if I’mve screwed up the newsletter, as I often do, then there ain’t a lot I can do about it…)

This week is all about the ladies. And that’s because I’mm really excited to announce…

• A New Event: the next Night of Adventure event will be in Bristol on July 7th, supporting Hope and Homes for Children. And it’s going to be an all-female line-up of speakers. We have wanted to find a way to get out of London for a while, and I have wanted to do another all-female event for ages. We’re still lining up all the speakers, but the marvellous Anna McNuff is going to be hosting, and she alone will be worth the entry fee. So get your tickets here, now!
• Watch high-speed Adventure talks from London’s recent Night of Adventure here. 400 seconds per talk – enough time to inspire you to go and do something really stupid with your life.
• A new generation of Afghan women: Afghan Cycles is a new documentary about pushing gender and cultural barriers by riding bicycles. Extremely cool. The trailer is here.
• Women Writing About the Wild: 25 essential female authors – A primer on who to start reading and who you’ve been overlooking for too long.
• Female Adventurers to follow on social media: A while ago I put a shout-out asking for recommendations of cool expedition women to follow on social media. You can see people’s recommendations on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
• A community for Adventure Queens to get involved in. (Or this one, should you happen to live in Munich.)
• A podcast to try out: She Explores is for and about women who are inspired by time spent outside.
• Some articles for women looking to get more into adventure: if you’re struggling with the fear of camping alone, nervous about going travelling, want some advice for microadventures, are interested in going cycle touring, want to read about a woman who’s cycling round the world (aged 20), or round Britain, or across Europe, then don’t worry — you’re not alone, and I’mve been asked all these questions lots of times! I hope these help you get out there.
• A brilliant Instagram account to follow: Rachel’s art is ace, and she does epic adventure stuff. Speaking of women, art, and the outdoors: I love Jenny’s map paintings and the artist Katie Tunn’s emigration from London to Skye.
