30 Days – “Practice and Suck Less Challenge”

The artist Austin Kleon set a 30-day “Practice and Suck Less” challenge.
I am a big fan of habit calendars, getting out the front door and beginning, regardless of how rubbish you are.
So I decided to take on the challenge and start learning to draw.
And to do handstands…
As Austin says, “To get good, you first have to be willing to be bad. Don’t practice to get good, practice to suck less.”
“Lower your standards for what counts as progress,” writes Adam Grant, “and you will be less paralysed by perfectionism.”
Something small, every day, adds up to something big over time.
And now, after 30 days, I suck a little less at drawing and handstands!
Oh yes, I also decided to try to learn the piano….

LEARNING NOTES:
I am clearly no expert (!) but I found these resources invaluable:
Drawing: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards
Piano: Simply Piano app
Handstands: Nerd Fitness, How to Do a Handstand in 30 Days

Well done with handstands and drawing.
Try the handstand against a wall and in time you won’t need the wall !
I am now daily rowing on a new Concept 2 machine and afterwards enjoy a headstand for a few minutes !

Ooh, the joys of a rowing machine. What distances / speed are you going for?

I have been no good at juggling for decades. I have started 30 days of practice to be a bit less no good.
    I too shall try drawing.
