I have written before about how to write a book. (tl;dr: sit down and write a lot.) But what about the next phases? Editing and getting published…

1. Write lots and lots and lots. Don’t do anything else until I have sorted my shitty first draft.
2. Re-write and edit the whole lot.
   
   I probably do about five or six total re-writes before…
3. Looking at the structure of the book. This is the part I really enjoy. I find Scrivener to be invaluable for this.
   
4. However I find staring at a screen for too long blinds my mind. So I also like to print things out and do some literal cutting and pasting too.

After that, eventually, comes the next stage. It’s pretty huge. Getting the book published:

But even that is not the end. For once your book is published then comes the hard work of actually getting anyone to read your book. Here’s a post I wrote about how to become an Amazon bestseller.
